In the confusing Amazon region, a lot of wood, mainly mahogany, is illegally felled.
In order to prosecute this overexploitation the perpetrators must be caught red-handed and the wood confiscated.
The best way to this is to monitor the vast area with seaplanes. The deforestation is photographed and illegal loggers are tracked down. The financing of the operation of a seaplane by Art For
Tropical Forests is a key contribution to this project.
Greenpeace’s entire Amazon project is set to run 10 years and among other things promotes reforestation with FSC- standardized wood (Forest Stewardship Council).
